Hardie specifies fastener type, placement, and spacing for a reason — get it wrong and you either crack the board over time or leave gaps that let water in. Ground clearance matters just as much: siding installed too close to grade, a deck, or a patio traps moisture against the bottom courses, which is exactly where we see the earliest damage on homes that weren't installed to spec.
Cut Edges and Caulking
Every field cut exposes raw fiber cement that needs to be sealed and, where visible, touched up to match the ColorPlus finish.
